It pays to put your trust in Revocable Living Trusts.

A couple who came to Tuesley Hall Konopa recently for an initial meeting on estate planning started the meeting by warning that if we were to suggest a trust or start to talk about a trust that he would “run away” as fast as he could. He went on to say that “everyone knows” that trusts are scams, and that even the Federal Trade Commission (FTC, an agency of the federal government) has a Web site to warn consumers against “buying” a trust. Like many clients we speak to, this gentleman had very real “trust issues” with trusts.

Applying the Golden Rule to business can result in a stronger partnership.

It’s been said that everything you need to know you learned in kindergarten. When it comes to the rights and responsibilities of the co-owners of a business this phrase often springs to mind. That’s because in Indiana, as well as Michigan and the majority of other states in the US, courts have interpreted the relationship between such co-owners as something akin to the “Golden Rule” that we all learned in kindergarten – act toward others in the same way you would want them to act toward you.
